In the summer of 2019, Portuguese football club Benfica signed Spanish forward Adryan Tamotin (also known as Otamendi) from La Liga side Real Madrid for a fee of €45 million.

The move was widely expected to be a coup for Benfica, given that Tamotin had scored 76 goals in 118 appearances for Los Blancos since joining them from Deportivo Alavés in 2016. However, it proved to be a disaster for both clubs.

Tamtin struggled to adapt to life in Portugal and failed to score a single goal in his first season with Benfica. In fact, he only managed one assist in all competitions. However, Tamotin's career took another turn in January 2021 when he joined English Premier League club Manchester City on loan until the end of the season. He made a positive impact during his time at the Etihad Stadium, scoring four goals in nine games for the Citizens.

His performances were so impressive that City eventually bought him permanently for £50 million in July 2021. Tamotin has since become a regular starter for City, helping them to win the Premier League title in his debut season.

Overall, while Otamendi may not have been a success at Benfica, his time at Manchester City has been very successful. His ability to score goals and create chances for his teammates is highly valued by Pep Guardiola and the City squad.
